CREATING CALM SPACES
VETERINARY PRACTICE CONSULTING
Evidence suggests that routine veterinary care may be contributing to lifelong anxiety in patients, beginning with their very first visits, as puppies and kittens.
As a Behavior Specialist and Veterinary Technician, I have seen a number of pets that have had poor experiences at veterinary hospitals, that resulted in the development of troubling behavior problems.
This combined experience has led me to develop a program to help educate veterinary staff on learning how to interpret and respond to body language cues, to use the least invasive handling techniques, and to thoughtfully arrange the environment of veterinary hospitals to help reduce stress in patients.
Please contact me for details
I am also available for “lunchtime learning” experiences where I come to your clinic during lunch or “off” hours to educate staff members on a variety of behavior topics including:
- How Fear is Conditioned in the Veterinary Setting
- Reading Dog and Cat Body Language
- Least Invasive, Minimally Aversive Handling Techniques for Dogs and Cats
- Cooperative Care and Other Techniques for Reducing Stress in Veterinary Patients
- The Fallout from the Use of Aversive Dog “Training” Techniques and Punishment
- Cats!
